Cosmetic Surgery

Each of us wants to look young and beautiful. Even if you are gifted with facial features and your skin. Gone are the days when we had to live with imperfections all our lives. It is said that if you dream of a life you really want to live, you will soon be able to live it. In this modern world, the field of cosmetic surgery is booming and constantly evolving. Compared to other countries in the world, cosmetic surgeons in India offer low cost treatment with best results. There are various options available in non-surgical and surgical treatments.

What is Cosmetic Surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is where a person chooses an operation, or an invasive medical procedure, to change their physical appearance for a cosmetic rather than a medical reason. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures, such as Botox and dermal fillers – commonly used to relax or fill crease lines – do not involve surgery. However, there are still added risks.

Surgeons may refer a patient for pre-surgical counseling if they feel there is an underlying problem that cannot be resolved surgically or if the patient shows signs of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD).

Facial cosmetic surgery

The purpose of blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is to reshape the eyelids. With age, the skin becomes pale and the upper lids may sag or bags may appear on the hoods and lower lids. Eyelid surgery can be functional, cosmetic or both. This usually involves removing or replacing excess skin and fat, and this process can strengthen the surrounding muscles and tendons.

Surgery can change the shape of the face or tighten the skin.

In rhinoplasty, also known as “nasal work”, the surgeon improves the size of the patient’s nose and often even breathes. This may include changing the shape of the tip at the top of the nose and reducing the crookedness of the bones.

This can be done with small incisions that are well hidden, often inside the nostrils. Surgeons do not recommend rhinoplasty until the patient is at least 15 years old for full growth of cartilage and nasal bone.

Autoplasty, or ear surgery, involves surgically “pinning” the ear close to the head, reshaping cartilage, or both.

One or both ears can be treated. This is usually done in children after 5 or 6 years because by that age the ears have basically reached adult size.

Rhytidectomy, also known as facelift, aims to surgically remove wrinkles and tighten facial skin to look younger.

Typically, the incision is made in front of and behind the ears, extending to the hairline in the temple area. The skin is lifted from the deep tissues of the face, re-lined more tightly, and the excess skin is removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures.

The deep tissues of the face and neck can also become tight. Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery can be performed simultaneously.

The purpose of eyebrow lift, broplasty or forehead lift is to remove the signs of aging by raising eyebrows and removing wrinkles or lines of care on the forehead. This is usually done with other cosmetic procedures to get a more harmonious look on the face.

The purpose of raising the chin is to make the chin more prominent and to provide a better balance of facial features. This can be done at the time of rhinoplasty, depending on the measurements taken before surgery. This can be done either by a prosthetic implant or by manipulating the chin bone.

Growing malar, or cheek, can make the cheek bones more pronounced. The surgeon can implant the top of the cheekbones.
